Women Reservation Bill: At present, there is a lot of political activity across the country regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023 i.e. the bill to amend the Women’s Reservation Act. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and current Lok Sabha MP Basbaraj Bommai has appealed to all political parties to support the Women’s Reservation Bill. He asked the political parties to put aside all their differences and fully support the Women’s Reservation Bill.
Historical discussion will be held in the special session of Lok Sabha: Bommai
According to IANS, while talking to the media in Bengaluru, BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) said that all political parties should come together in the interest of the democratic future of India and support the Women’s Reservation Bill. He said that a special session of the Lok Sabha is going to be held soon and he is happy that the Parliament is going to hold a historic and revolutionary discussion on women’s reservation and delimitation.
Ambedkar and PM Modi have similar thinking: Bommai
Bommai said that Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar had made provisions for women through the Hindu Code Bill. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s thinking is also similar. He also said that former Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi had also earlier supported such a step. The Congress-led UPA government introduced the Women’s Reservation Bill (108th Amendment Bill) in 2008, which was passed in the Rajya Sabha in 2010. He stressed that giving reservation to women is a common aspiration and the opposition parties must support this amendment bill for women’s reservation.
Congress is accusing the government
Congress is criticizing the special session of Parliament called by the Central Government to amend the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue, demanding a comprehensive discussion at the national level and calling an all-party meeting.
