ED action intensified in I-pack case, wife, brother summoned for questioning

ED Probe I-PAC Case: The Enforcement Directorate has intensified its investigation in the money laundering case related to political consulting firm I-PACK. In this connection, the agency has summoned the family members of co-founder Prateek Jain for questioning. According to officials, ED has called Prateek Jain’s wife Barbie Jain and his brother Pulkit Jain for questioning in a money laundering case related to alleged hawala transactions. Both have been asked to appear at the headquarters of the Central Investigation Agency in Delhi on Wednesday.

Inquiry will be done under PMLA

Officials said that Barbie Jain and Pulkit Jain will be interrogated under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. According to the agency, the business relations of both are also under investigation. However, no more information has been shared in this regard. I-PACK also provides political consultancy services to the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, which has increased the political stir regarding this matter.

Case related to arrest of Vinesh Chandel

It is noteworthy that ED had recently arrested Vinesh Chandel, another co-founder of I-Pac. His arrest is also being said to be related to the case related to the alleged coal scam of West Bengal. ED had earlier summoned Prateek Jain in the same case related to hawala transactions. The central agency had registered a criminal case on March 28 based on the FIR lodged by Delhi Police.

Prateek Jain reached the High Court

Prateek Jain has moved the Delhi High Court against the ED summons. Earlier in January, ED had also raided Prateek Jain’s residence and I-PACK office in Kolkata. At present, ED is investigating this entire matter and more big revelations are expected in the coming days.
