‘Within the next 2 weeks…’, Meteorological Department’s big warning for the country, know the latest updates of Delhi-UP, Bihar

The weather trend across the country is going to change rapidly for the next 2 weeks (16 to 29 April 2026). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), while releasing its detailed forecast, has clearly indicated that the weather pattern is going to be completely different in different areas, at some places it will bring rain and relief, while at other places the scorching heat and heat wave will increase the problems of the people.

Last week, an increase in temperature was seen due to less storm activity in North India. There was heavy rain in the North-East and some eastern areas. According to IMD, weekly rainfall across the country was about 46 percent less than normal, while the total rainfall so far in the pre-monsoon season has been recorded 14 percent more than normal.

This week (16 to 22 April) the Northeast will be the most bustling. There will be light to moderate rain at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, while heavy rain is also possible in some areas. Along with this, strong winds will blow at a speed of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour and there will also be a danger of lightning. IMD has expressed the possibility of hailstorm at one or two places in Mizoram.

Chance of rain in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi
The weather will be slightly active in the north-west also. There may be snowfall in high altitude areas along with rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There are chances of light rain and thundershowers in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi around April 17. In eastern states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds on different days. At some places the storm can reach a speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour.

Where will you go?
IMD has warned of heat wave in some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Odisha and Jharkhand from 16 to 20 April. Along with heat, humidity will also be troubling in some areas of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. At present, the maximum temperature in most parts of the country remains between 38 to 44 degrees. In many places it is 3 to 5 degrees more than normal. The temperature will not change much in the north-west, while in central India there may be a slight decline after a slight increase at first.

There is a possibility of more than normal rainfall in Northeast and Eastern India from 23 to 29 April. The weather in the rest of the country may remain mostly dry. The temperature in central and surrounding areas will remain above normal and mild heat wave may also continue at some places. According to meteorologists, western disturbances, cyclonic system over Haryana-Madhya Pradesh and different trough lines are the reasons behind all these changes.
