US-Iran War: Was the US threat on Hormuz just a mere whim? Know who told ‘propaganda’

US Iran War: US President Donald Trump is very angry over the lack of successful talks with Iran in Pakistan. They have threatened to destroy any Iranian fast attack ships that come close to the US naval blockade imposed around Iran’s ports. At the same time, international mediators have appealed to respect the fragile ceasefire and resume negotiations.

President Trump claimed in a social media post

Trump, in a post shared on the social media platform Truth Social on Monday (April 13, 2026), claimed that during the fighting, Iran’s navy has been almost completely destroyed and 158 of its ships have been sunk. Only a few fast attack ships are left, which were not targeted by America because they were not considered a major threat.

He wrote, ‘Iran’s navy is lying in the depths of the sea and its 158 ships have been completely destroyed. We did not sink some of their fast attack ships because we did not consider them a major threat. He then threatened, saying, ‘If these ships come near our blockade, they will be immediately destroyed, in the same manner as we take action against drug smugglers at sea. It is fast and powerful. P.S. 98.2% of drugs coming to America by sea have been stopped!’

Trump’s threat vanished

Trump’s threat came after the US naval blockade announced on Sunday (April 12, 2026), which was implemented after high-level talks in Pakistan ended without any result. The US military had announced that the blockade would come into effect at 1400 GMT on Monday (April 13) and would apply to all ships leaving or attempting to reach Iranian ports. This will apply equally to ships of all countries, including all Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

However, even after the deadline, it was not publicly announced by Washington that the blockade had actually been implemented and there were no clear signs of any kind of restriction in the sea.

Iran makes fun of Trump’s blockade threat

Alauddin Borujardi, a member of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, termed Trump’s claim of blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as baseless and just false propaganda. He said, ‘If America really wants to confront Iran, it would not have removed its aircraft carriers from the area due to fear of Iran’s missile and naval capabilities. This claim of Trump is completely baseless and just false propaganda. America does not actually have the ability to block Hormuz and NATO countries also will not support it.
