Rahul Gandhi made a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in West Bengal. Regarding the India-US trade deal, he alleged that the government has compromised the interests of the country and even said that ‘Modi is not a patriot, he is a traitor.’
Big allegation on trade deal
Rahul Gandhi said that through this agreement, India’s energy security has been handed over to America. He claims that the government has taken this decision under American pressure, which will cause harm to the country.
Talk of danger to agriculture and industry
He warned that India’s agricultural sector will be badly affected by this deal. Also, if American goods come to India in large quantities, small and medium industries may be closed, which will have a big impact on employment.
Questions on data and national security
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government has also handed over the country’s data to America, which could pose a threat to national security. He said that the strength of any country depends on its data.
Claim of purchase of Rs 9.5 lakh crore
He said that the government has promised to buy goods worth about Rs 9.5 lakh crore from America. According to him, due to this, American goods will hit the Indian market like a ‘tsunami’ and local industries will be harmed.
Bengal will suffer ‘double loss’
Rahul Gandhi said that the impact of this deal will be more on West Bengal, because the industries here are already weak. He also accused the state government of not fulfilling its promises of providing employment.
Mamta government targeted on unemployment
He said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had promised to provide 5 lakh jobs, but 84 lakh youth have applied for unemployment allowance.
Attack on BJP-RSS regarding Constitution
Rahul Gandhi accused BJP and RSS of weakening the Constitution through ‘hateful thinking’ and trying to rig the elections.
Questions raised on voter list also
He termed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the Election Commission as unconstitutional and said that wherever BJP and RSS get a chance, they work against the Constitution.
