PM Modi Addresses To Nation Live: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation tonight at 8:30 pm. Although official information about the topic on which he will speak has not been revealed yet, but it is believed that his address may focus on the issue of women’s reservation and recent developments in Parliament.

Actually, the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill related to women’s reservation could not be passed in the Lok Sabha on Friday. In this proposal, it was said to increase the Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816 and to give 33 percent reservation to women.

During the voting, 298 votes were cast in support of the bill and 230 against it, whereas 352 votes were required to pass it. According to sources, in the cabinet meeting held on Saturday, the Prime Minister targeted the opposition and said that not supporting women’s reservation is a big mistake and they may have to suffer political consequences for it.

Modi is expected to discuss in detail the issue of implementation of women’s reservation and the incidents that took place in Parliament, where opposition parties voted against the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill on Friday.  Under this Bill, the women’s reservation law will be “implemented” before the 2029 parliamentary elections, after the delimitation exercise based on the 2011 census; To do this, the Lok Sabha seats were to be increased from the present 543 to 816.

The number of seats in state and union territory assemblies was also to be increased to accommodate the 33 percent reservation for women. A two-thirds majority was required to pass this important bill, but the ruling BJP-led coalition could not muster the necessary support.
