After the incident of firing on two Indian ships in the Strait of Hormuz on April 18, the Indian Navy has tightened security near the strait. The Indian Navy has issued a new advisory for Indian flagged ships in the Persian Gulf, asking them to stay away from Larak Island and pass through there only on the instructions of the Navy, to ensure safety.
Quoting sources, it was said that the Indian Navy is giving priority to the safety of all Indian ships waiting to cross Hormuz. So far 11 Indian ships have crossed the strait. The last tanker, Desh Garima, crossed on 18 April. On the same day, two Indian ships Jag Arnav and Sanmar Herald were forced to turn back after Iranian guards fired on them.
When will Desh Garima ship reach India?
After crossing the Strait of Hormuz, Desh Garima is being provided security by the Indian Navy in the Arabian Sea and is expected to reach Mumbai on 22 April. Larak Island is located at the narrowest point of the Strait of Hormuz and a large part of Iran’s oil infrastructure is located here. This island is extremely important for Iran’s energy sector, so the waters around it are tightly protected.

Ships passing through Hormuz are closely monitored through a network of bunkers and radar systems. Larak Island is located about 33 kilometers south of Hormuz Island in the Strait of Hormuz, which before the Iran-US conflict was a vital route transporting about 20% of global oil.
7 ships of Indian Navy deployed
According to reports, several Iranian bases also operate there, which are capable of being deployed to target small and fast ships. Currently 14 Indian ships are in the Persian Gulf and waiting to cross the Strait of Hormuz. The Indian Navy is in constant touch with these ships and has advised them to proceed only after getting permission. 7 Indian Navy ships have been deployed near the Persian Gulf and will provide security to Indian ships after crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
