Amidst the war raging in Western Asia, a trade war seems to be breaking out between America and China. China has completely rejected those media reports in which Beijing’s military assistance to Iran was claimed, terming them as fabricated. Also warned that if the US increases tariffs by making such false allegations, it will also not remain silent.
What did the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry say?
China has rejected claims of providing military aid to Iran. Said that these reports are completely fabricated. A spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry said, ‘Media reports related to China’s allegations of providing military assistance to Iran are completely fabricated. If America imposes tariffs on China based on these allegations, China will retaliate.
Trump had threatened 50 percent tariff
This statement has come after America’s accusation of helping Iran and threatening to impose 50 percent tariff on Beijing. China has already clearly denied that it is providing air defense related weapons to Iran. Said that if Trump imposes additional 50 percent tariff on Chinese goods using this allegation as an excuse, then China will also retaliate.
A person with knowledge of the matter told NBC, citing American intelligence reports, that China is planning to deliver new air defense weapons to Iran in the next few weeks or has already sent it. For this reason, US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose an additional 50 percent tariff on China.
China expressed objection to the decision
China has also objected to US President Donald Trump’s decision to implement blockade of Iran’s ports in the Strait of Hormuz. Beijing has strongly criticized Trump’s move and termed the American action as dangerous and irresponsible. The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying, ‘Targeted American blockade in the Strait of Hormuz will further increase tension. Besides, the ceasefire agreement, which is already going through a critical phase, will be further damaged.
