ED Summons TMC Former MP Nusrat Jahan: Former TMC MP Nusrat Jahan has been summoned in the ration scam case. He has been asked to appear at the ED office in Kolkata on 22 April. He has been asked to appear a day before the first phase of voting in the West Bengal Assembly elections.
He has been asked to appear at the agency’s CGO Complex office in Salt Lake. However, the former MP from Basirhat has not given any reaction in this matter.
What is the whole incident?
In fact, during the Corona-19 lockdown, several trucks were seized in the border area of Basirhat, West Bengal on charges of smuggling wheat and rice to Bangladesh. At that time Nusrat was MP from Basirhat seat.
According to ED, many names had come to light during the investigation of alleged ration smuggling. Officials want to interrogate the wheat smuggling case to Bangladesh. At present there is no information whether Nusrat Jahan is in the country or not. Because of this, she recently went on a holiday abroad with her husband, actor Yash Dasgupta.

Apart from this, Nusrat was interrogated by ED in a flat fraud case. Then he was interrogated for about 6 hours in CGO Complex. BJP leader Shankudev Panda had accused him of being involved in this alleged fraud. Also a complaint was lodged in ED.
Questions are being raised on ED’s action
Here, election campaigning is going on in full swing in West Bengal. In such a situation, the first phase of voting is also to be held. TMC has termed ED’s action as a conspiracy. Also alleged that investigation agencies are being misused in the election environment.
