Malaysia’s High Commissioner Dato Muzaffar Shah Mustafa in India spoke to the IANS with the second ASEAN Summit of the year to be held in Kuala Lumpur by the end of October. During this time, the Malaysian High Commissioner gave a big statement about handing over India to Zakir Naik.
Malaysia High Commissioner Dato Muzaffar Shah Mustafa from IANS said, “Our bilateral extradition agreement with India and a process that needs to be followed. The case of Zakir Naik is currently going through a legal process. The case is under the supervision of the Malaysian Court and will be settled on the basis of judicial view. There is no reason to extradite Zakir Naik on the basis of justification given by the Government of India. The matter has nothing to do with the Malaysian government.
On the relationship between the two countries, he said, ‘There has been a long -term historical and cultural relationship between Malaysia and India. Our relations are moving very well, as is clear from the Prime Minister of Malaysia from the recent visit to India. This journey proved to be another milestone in strengthening our bilateral relations. It is also reflected in reaching the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership between our relations between Malaysia and India.
Regarding the ASEAN Summit, he said that Malaysia is currently the president of ASEAN and we give great importance to our chairmanship. The theme of inclusion and stability is more important not only for ASEAN, but also for Malaysia, especially for Malaysia. Apart from ASEAN member countries, we expect to gather in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the future from other leaders including India.
High Commissioner Mustafa said, ‘Malaysia is eager to welcome Prime Minister Modi during this summit. We know that India is one of the ASEAN dialogues partners and all the Dialogues of ASEAN have been invited to the heads and heads of the partners.
Regarding the bilateral meeting between Indo-US during the ASEAN Summit, he said, ‘The leaders participating in this summit will also take advantage of this opportunity and also meet separate meetings. In the last conversation with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, US President Donald Trump talked about his desire to participate in it. However, I do not know whether a meeting between India and the US has been requested or not, but if it is during the ASEAN Summit, Malaysia will be very happy to host such an important meeting.
He said that the US President has been invited as all the ASEAN summit takes place in conferences. During the conference, all issues of concern for ASEAN countries and talks partners will be raised and discussed. I hope that terrorism will be one of the major subjects of the agenda. Regarding the 20 -point plan of US President Donald Trump to end the ongoing struggle in Gaza for two years, he said that I am not aware of any proposal regarding Gaza yet.
