Amidst the ongoing heated argument between America and India over tariffs, trade policies and ceasefire, the question is increasingly arising whether US President Donald Trump will visit India next year. Trump had recently indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inviting him to visit India and he may visit India in 2026. Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has responded on this. The Ministry of External Affairs has clearly said that India does not yet have any information regarding Trump’s possible visit.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the weekly press briefing that he has nothing to share right now regarding Trump’s visit to India. He said, ‘As far as President Trump’s statements related to his visit to India are concerned, I do not have any information on this. When there is something to share, I will let you know.
Trump praised PM Modi, said- ‘He wants me to come’
Trump said on a question in the ‘Oval Office’ on Thursday, ‘He (Prime Minister Modi) is my friend, we keep talking… He wants me to come there. We are looking into this. I will go. I had a wonderful visit there with Prime Minister Modi. He is a good person. I will go again. When asked if he was planning to visit India next year, Trump replied, ‘Yes, maybe.’
India stopped buying oil from Russia – Trump claims again
Meanwhile, President Trump once again claimed that India has stopped purchasing from Russia. On a question asked about the progress of talks with Modi and trade discussions with India, Trump said, it is very good, everything is going well. He (Prime Minister Modi) stopped buying oil from Russia…to a large extent he stopped buying oil from Russia. Trump imposed a 25 percent retaliatory duty on India and an additional 25 percent tax on the purchase of Russian oil, taking the total duty imposed on India to 50 percent.
Quad summit also expected to be held in India next year
India is going to host the next Quad conference, which will be attended by top leaders of Australia, Japan and America. The date of the conference has not been decided yet, but it is likely to be held in 2026. The last Quad meeting was held in Wilmington, Delaware, USA in 2024.
