Ramnath Thakur may be NDA’s face for Vice President

Ramnath Thakur is the son of former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur. The timing of his meeting with JP Nadda is considered very important. According to sources, a potential candidate for the post of Vice President Ramnath Thakur is also being told. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and several senior leaders were present in this meeting.

Ramnath Thakur has a strong social identity in the entire country including Bihar regarding the legacy of Karpoori Thakur. Ramnath Thakur is also considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Last year, the central government honored his father Karpoori Thakur with Bharat Ratna.

Discussion on the name of Harivansh Narayan intensified

Within 24 hours of the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan also met President Draupadi Murmu. His name is also ahead in the possible faces of the Vice President. In April 2014, JDU elected him a Rajya Sabha member from Bihar. After this, he was elected for the first time for the post of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha on 9 August 2018 and then on September 2020.

ECI started preparations for Vice Presidential election

The Election Commission of India (ECI) said on Wednesday, two days after Jagdeep Dhankhar’s sudden resignation, it has started the process of holding elections for the post of Vice President. The Election Commission has started forming an electoral college of MPs of both the houses of Parliament. Both elected and nominated members are eligible to vote in the Vice Presidential elections. ECI said that after completion of preparations, the Vice Presidential election schedule will be announced as soon as possible.
