Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction’s Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday (November 29, 2025) hit back at a statement by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat. Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “Our country is such that it has given birth to four religions in its history. Our country has also given shelter to others by making them refugees. Therefore, this is our religion, this is our civilization and it is not limited only to our country, but is also the identity of our religion and culture.”
He said, “I believe that it is wrong to make any kind of political statement on this subject and our thinking has been of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, where we all can live together and the work of polarization is being done on it, then it is clear who is getting political benefit from it.”

Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke at the National Book Festival
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed the National Book Festival organized in Nagpur district of Maharashtra on Saturday (November 29, 2025). In the program, Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said that India’s approach to the concept of nation is fundamentally different from Western interpretations. They could not understand our concept of nation, so they started calling it nationalism.

Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said, “If the definition of nation is understood in the context of western countries, then it is a system of one nation, but India has always been a nation. Our nation is not made up of states. Even when there were no states, we were a nation, even when there were many states, we were still a nation. When there was a Chakravarti emperor here, we were still there, when we got independence from the British, we were a nation, but even when our country was a slave, we were still a nation. We are already one nation.” He said, “Gandhi ji had written in Hind Swaraj that before the arrival of the British, we were not all united, this is a reverse lesson taught to us by the British.”
