A new deep depression has formed near the south-west Bay of Bengal and the Sri Lankan coast, which is taking the form of a cyclonic storm. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that it may soon turn into Cyclone Ditvaha, due to which heavy rains as well as strong winds are expected in many parts of South India including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.
IMD’s yellow alert for these cities
According to IMD, this deep depression will move towards north-northwest (NNW) direction at a speed of about 17 km/hour and will reach the coasts of North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-South Andhra Pradesh by the morning of 30 November 2025. Currently this system is located near 6.7°N latitude and 82.1°E longitude. Regarding this, IMD has issued yellow alert for 27, 28 and 29 November in many districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur, Thanjavur.
Impact of cyclone Senyar reduced
The administration has appealed to the common people to remain alert and follow all the instructions issued by the Meteorological Department, so that in case of any disaster, there is minimal loss. The impact of Cyclone Senyar, which formed in the Strait of Malacca, has now reduced. Now it is moving towards Malaysia. Regarding this, Malaysia has alerted about heavy rains, strong winds and high waves in the northern states. Flood situation may also arise in these areas.
Cyclone Ditvaah can wreak havoc
This system began as a low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and the South Andaman Sea. Regarding this, there was a possibility of rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and coastal Andhra Pradesh. IMD has said that now there is no threat from Senyar in India, but the new deep depression forming in the Bay of Bengal can affect the weather, on which IMD is constantly monitoring.
