When Nitish-Modi quarreled because of Nitin Nabin!

Nitin Nabin, a minister in the Nitish government, is now the national working president of the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is also almost certain that Nitin Nabin will also be the next national president of BJP, but do you know that when this same Nitin Nabin was just an MLA, his posters put up in Patna city had created such a fight between the then Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi that Nitish Kumar canceled the much talked about dinner, after which the relationship between BJP and JDU was broken. What was the whole story, we will tell you in detail.

The year was 2009. The atmosphere of Lok Sabha elections was being created in the country. Efforts by NDA to present Lal Krishna Advani as the Prime Ministerial candidate were in full swing. In this connection, during the campaign for Lok Sabha, a huge public meeting was organized in Ludhiana city. In this, invitation letters were sent to the leaders of all the constituent parties of NDA and the Chief Ministers of NDA. Then K Chandrashekhar Rao of Telangana Rashtra Samithi had separated from UPA and was with NDA, due to which the clan of NDA became bigger. Nitish Kumar was also to participate in this rally, but Nitish was hesitant because he was against sharing the stage with Narendra Modi.

Then late Arun Jaitley called Nitish Kumar and said that Advani wants you to come. Jaitley also asked Sanjay Jha to convince Nitish. Ultimately Nitish agreed to Sanjay Jha’s request and came to the rally. As soon as Nitish was climbing the stage of the rally from one end, Narendra Modi also climbed the stage from the other end. Senior journalist Sankarshan Thakur writes in his book Bandhu Bihari-

‘As soon as he climbed the stage, Narendra Modi held Nitish’s hand and lifted it up so that everyone could see. Cameras came out, pictures were taken and Nitish felt that he was being targeted. Before Nitish could regain his senses, Modi left him and sat at his designated place on the stage. While returning after the rally, Sanjay Jha was also in the car with Nitish. Nitish became very angry with Sanjay Jha. Said-

‘You trapped me, you knew what was going to happen. Everything is deliberate. The design is that tomorrow the same photo will be published in the newspaper which that man forcefully got clicked by holding my hand. I am strictly against this kind of politics.

But whatever was to happen, happened. Nothing could be done now, but the picture was published in the newspaper. And then Sanjay Jha understood what had happened, but something more was yet to happen. And what was yet to happen, the person behind it was Nitin Nabin, who till then was a small leader of Bihar BJP. BJP’s national executive meeting was scheduled to be held in Patna in June 2010, about a year after the Ludhiana incident. Just a few days before this meeting, posters had started being put up on the walls of the city. In this, gratitude was expressed towards Narendra Modi, who had given a grand donation of Rs 5 crore for the people suffering from Kosi flood in Bihar.

A night before the National Executive, huge advertisements were put up at almost every intersection of Patna city, in which gratitude was expressed towards the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi. Some posters had the same photo which was taken on the stage in Ludhiana, in which Narendra Modi was seen holding the hand of Nitish Kumar. BJP leaders Rameshwar Chaurasia and Nitin Nabin were the ones who got these posters installed. Nitish Kumar had told Sushil Modi that he will give dinner to BJP leaders at his home. Its preparations were going on at 1 Anne Marg. Senior journalist Sankarshan Thakur writes in his book Bandhu Bihari-

,A canopy was installed on the lush green grounds of Chief Minister,s residence, 1 Anne Marg. Typical Bihari dishes like Balushahi, Belgrami, Khaja, Malpua and Litti-Chokha were on the menu, the responsibility of which was with BD Singh, in-charge of Maurya Hotel. Invitation cards were printed. Invitation letters were personally sent to all the BJP leaders, the responsibility for which was with an old BJP leader, Shyam Jaju. ,

But when these preparations were going on, Nitish was not in Patna. He was on a tour of North Bihar with Vikas Yatra. He returned late at night and the next day when he started looking at the newspaper, he came to know that an advertisement was published in the newspaper. The same picture of Nitish-Modi is printed in it which was taken in Ludhiana and in the advertisement Narendra Modi was thanked for Rs 5 crore. Mitra of Bihar was written as the name of the advertiser. Nitish Kumar got enraged after seeing this. He called Sanjay Jha and said that now there will be no dinner, take back the invitation letter. After this Nitish ordered to uproot the awning and close the kitchen.

The dinner got canceled and everyone knows the history after that, how then the relations between Nitish and Modi became even more strained and the BJP-JDU alliance broke in Bihar. Although that alliance has been formed, broken, re-formed and now re-formed, but no one who watches politics attentively will have forgotten the earthquake that the posters of current BJP working president Nitin Nabin had created in the politics of Bihar 15 years ago. Nor will he be able to ignore the impact on Nitish Kumar of Nitin Nabin being made the working president.
