Amid discussions about change of leadership in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has given a big statement on Friday (October 24, 2025). He said that he will talk to only the appropriate person in this regard. He was commenting on the statement of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son and Legislative Council member Yatindra Siddaramaiah that State Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi is a leader with progressive ideology like his father.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar told reporters in Bengaluru, ‘I will not say anything now, but I will talk to those whom I need to talk to.’ He was answering the question of a journalist as to why notice was not given to Yatindra, who was speaking about the change of leadership.
What statement did Siddaramaiah’s son give?,
While addressing a meeting in Chikkodi in Belagavi district on Wednesday (October 22, 2025), Yathindra had said, ‘Siddaramaiah is at the last stage of his political career. At such a time, there is a need for a leader to guide and lead the ideologically progressive thinkers. He had said that Minister Satish Jarkiholi is also a leader with similar progressive ideology.
Notice was given earlier to two other Congress leaders
Recently, notices were issued to two Congress MLAs HD Ranganath and HA Iqbal Hussain for their statement that DK Shivakumar should become the next Chief Minister of the state. Amidst discussions about change of leadership, Yatindra’s statement has raised questions whether he is talking about his father’s successor.
Siddaramaiah claimed many times to complete his tenure
Amidst discussions about change in the post of Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah has been continuously reiterating that he will complete the tenure of five years. After the declaration of assembly election results in May 2023, there was a tough competition for the post of Chief Minister between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. Congress was successful in convincing Shivkumar and he was made the Deputy Chief Minister.
