West Bengal News: A strange incident in the draft voter list in Natabadi area of Cooch Behar district of West Bengal has shocked everyone, here a living woman has been declared dead in the list, while her deceased sister’s name is clearly present in the list.
Voter list confused in names of sisters
Alimon Bewa is a resident of booth number 204 of Natabadi. Recently his sister Alijan Bewa passed away, but in the draft voter list the name of deceased Alijan is shown as alive and the name of living Alimon Bewa is shown as dead. Quddus Miya, a relative of the ‘dead’ in the draft list, said, “Somehow the name has been crossed out, the one who is alive has been shown dead and the one who has died, her name is in the list. I am very worried. Now I appeal to the government to vote for her.”
There was a technical mistake on the part of BLO
Meanwhile, political rhetoric has started on complaints of irregularities in the draft voter list. Abdul Qadir Haq, Trinamool Congress block president of Cooch Behar 1 block, says, “Whatever the Election Commission has done by suddenly announcing the SIR and scaring people, it is a desperate attempt by the BJP to win the upcoming assembly elections, we condemn it.”
Cooch Behar BJP District Vice-President Viraj Basu says that since the names of the two sisters, Alimon and Alijan, are very similar, it is obvious that there must have been some technical mistake on the part of the BLO. There is no need to panic. Trinamool Congress is doing false politics regarding these things. It is spreading confusion among the people.
