Waqf Help Desk (back-end support system) has been inaugurated at the headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in Delhi with the aim of uploading details of Waqf properties on the ‘Umeed Portal’ launched by the government and expediting the registration process. Through the help desk, guardians of Waqf, Imams of mosques and people responsible for religious institutions can directly contact the help desk and get assistance. The Waqf Help Desk was inaugurated by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Syed Saadatullah Hussaini.
Syed Saadatullah Hussaini said that the issue of security of Waqf has become a challenge for the entire ummah. The entire ummah will have to unite and face this challenge. He said that the Waqf department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has been working in this area for a long time. Waqf registration work has started in many states along with the Centre.
What did Syed Saadatullah Hussaini say
Hussaini further said that the community has very little time for Waqf registration and this is a huge task. Therefore, there is a need to create such centers on a large scale across the country and carry forward the work of Waqf registration through them. After the interim decision of the Supreme Court, it has become necessary to speed up the registration work by uploading the Waqf properties on the WAMSI portal on the basis of documents so that this work can be completed on time.
Syed Saadatullah Hussaini also clarified that registration does not mean ending the struggle against the unfair Waqf Amendment Act, but along with registration, the legal struggle against this black law will also be continued. Introducing the Waqf Help Desk, the coordinator of the centre, Inam-ur-Rehman Khan, said that the work of documentation of Waqf is not easy. There are many difficulties in uploading documents on Umeed portal. Keeping these difficulties in mind, Waqf Help Desk has been started. He said that all registration facilities will be provided from this desk.
Waqf cells were established at the state level.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has established Waqf cells at the state level to systematically carry out Waqf registration. In his statement, Inam-ur-Rehman said that a permanent helpline has been set up under the supervision of the Central Help Desk and State Waqf Cells, where the services of legal experts, Waqf experts and Waqf workers are being availed and timely guidance and assistance is being provided to those working extensively at the grassroots level.
During the inauguration, an appeal was made that special attention should be paid to networking of volunteers and formation of monitoring committees. Waqf security committees of youth, government employees and others should be formed in every area to keep an eye on any illegal occupation or illegal activity on local Waqf properties and ensure receipt, accuracy and registration of their documents.
