The Home Ministry said that climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s inflammatory statements have provoked the crowd. Sonam Wangchuk called it a strategy to make it a sacrifice of sacrifice.
Sonam Wangchuk ready for arrest
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk said on Thursday (25 September 2025) that his stay in jail can cause more problems for the government. Reacting to the statement of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Wangchuk said that he is ready for arrest under the Strict Public Safety Act (PSA).
He told, “I see that they are making something that can arrest me under the Public Safety Act and put them in jail for two years. I am ready for this, but instead of keeping Sonam Wangchuk free, the problems can increase further. To say that this (violence) was instigated by me or the Congress, instead of dealing with the origin of the problem, it is like finding a goat of sacrifice, and there will be no solution.
Want to make sacrifices of sacrifice: Wangchuk
Wangchuk said, “They can be clever to make someone a sacrifice of sacrifice, but they are not intelligent.” At this time, all of us need intelligence rather than cleverness because the youth are already disappointed. ”
The climate activist blamed the long -standing complaints, especially the frustration among the youth of the region, and argued that the real reason is “six years of unemployment and incomplete promises at every level.
He accused the government of misleading the public by claiming success in job reservation and said that the main demands of state status and the expansion of the sixth schedule to protect the tribal status of Ladakh and the environment of Ladakh have not been noticed even after five years of peaceful appeals.
‘Government is not taking measures for peace’
Wangchuk said that by adopting a strategy of making a goat of sacrifice, the government is not really taking measures for peace, but taking such steps which will distract the situation by distracting the basic demands of the people.
According to officials, the agitation of the Ladakh state led by Wangchuk turned into violence, arson and violence in Leh on Wednesday, killing four people and injured at least 80 people, including 40 policemen.
The Union Home Ministry alleged in a statement on Wednesday night that activist Sonam Wangchuk and some people inspired by politics, who are not happy with the progress between the government and representatives of Ladakhi groups.
