A private luxury bus caught fire in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh today (24 October). There is news of many people being burnt alive in this painful incident. The accident occurred near Chinna Tekuru village on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway.
The Volvo left Hyderabad for Bengaluru around midnight. When the bus reached near Kurnool on National Highway 44 (NH-44) at around 3.30 in the morning, it collided with a two-wheeler. Police suspect that the two-wheeler got stuck under the rear part of the bus, causing sparks. According to sources, the bus was carrying 40 passengers to Bengaluru. The driver fled from the spot after the accident.
20 people broke the windows and jumped out
As soon as information about the fire in the bus was received, 20 people broke the windows and jumped out. 11 people have died in this accident, while about 20 people have been rescued and are undergoing treatment. This was an AC bus, so the passengers had to break the windows to get out. Regarding this entire matter, Kurnool Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil said that the passengers who were able to break the glass of the bus are safe. Efforts are underway to locate the remaining missing passengers and identify the victims.
The accident happened while the passengers were sleeping
All the passengers were sleeping when the fire broke out in the Volvo bus. The luxury AC bus was locked from all sides and the passengers were sleeping inside the boxes built in the bus. Therefore people did not even get a chance to escape. In no time the bus was completely burnt to ashes. This accident has shaken everyone.
There was an accident in Rajasthan also
This accident in Kurnool happened a week after the bus fire in Rajasthan, in which 22 people including 3 children lost their lives. During that time, a bus going from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire near Thaiyat village on 14 October.
