Puducherry State Congress President V. Vathillingam, Congress Legislature Party leader M. Vathianathan and former Chief Minister of Puducherry V. Narayanasamy said that there has been a large -scale corruption in the Puducherry government for the last four years, but the central government led by Narendra Modi has been eyeing eyes. State Congress President V. Vathillingam alleged that BJP MLA John Kumar grabbed the temple’s land through fake documents, but the BJP, which claimed to protect the rights of Hindus, rewarded John Kumar as a minister.
State Congress President made serious allegations
He said that a deputy collector also grabbed the land of another temple due to the connivance of the revenue officials and the protection of BJP leaders, action was taken against that deputy collector, but nothing happened to the BJP leaders who protected him. He also informed that Namsivayam, a minister in the government, bought properties worth crores of rupees in the name of his wife, while neither his nor his wife’s business or a big source of income.
Former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy also mentioned the construction of a marriage hall of Rs 20 crore in the name of a trust by Chief Minister N Rangaswamy. He asked where did so much money come from. He said that a huge amount was given as bribe to issue licenses of IMFL construction plants. He cited the revelations made by a BJP MLA in the assembly, in which he said that ten crore rupees were paid for a license.
‘Public Works Department becomes the base of corruption’
Narayanasamy further said that the Public Works Department of Puducherry has become a base of corruption. The present government is giving contracts to the public sector undertaking National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) and NBCC is further giving them to private contractors. The result of this is that the cost of construction of bus stand costing less than Rs 15 crore was Rs 31 crore.
Congress leaders said that they had met the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and submitted a memorandum to him demanding a CBI inquiry into corruption, but nothing happened. On Tuesday, he met Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha and informed him of corruption.
‘Estates of French citizens are being occupied’
Congress leaders said that due to GST, business in Puducherry has collapsed and traders are upset. The passing percentage due to the new education policy has come down from 95 to 75 percent. The traditional culture of Puducherry has been damaged by the arrival of dance bar. There has been flood of drugs in the tourism sector, illegal occupation of lands, kidnappings are being done. The properties of French citizens are also being captured by the ruling party MLAs and others. He said that the party has decided to submit a memorandum to the President along with the details of this corruption in Puducherry and demanded a judicial inquiry from him.
