In Bihar Assembly elections 2025, NDA has registered an explosive victory on 202 assembly seats. This victory of NDA is being described as historic. In Bihar, the National Democratic Alliance of five political parties, including BJP, JDU, LJP (RA), HAM and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLMO), won 202 seats, reducing the opposition grand alliance to only 35 seats.
The role of RLMO of senior Bihar leader and Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha is also being considered important in this victory of NDA. Upendra Kushwaha is considered a prominent leader of the Kushwaha (Koeri) caste in Bihar, due to whose influence NDA has got an explosive victory even in the Kushwaha dominated areas in Bihar.
Upendra Kushwaha’s party contested elections on 6 seats in Bihar
RLMO fielded its candidates on 6 assembly seats in Bihar. This includes Bajapatti, Madhubani, Sasaram, Dinara, Ujiarpur and Paru. Out of these, Rameshwar Kumar Mahato from Bajapatti, Madhav Anand from Madhubani, Snehlata from Sasaram and Alok Kumar Singh from Dinara won, while Prashant Kumar Pankaj from Ujiarpur and Madan Chaudhary from Paru had to face defeat from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidates. It is noteworthy that Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLMO) candidate from Sasaram, Snehlata, is the wife of party chief Upendra Kushwaha.
Impact of Upendra Kushwaha on Kushwaha votes in Bihar
In the Bihar Assembly elections, due to the leadership of Upendra Kushwaha and the support of RLMO, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has got huge gains in Kushwaha dominated areas. The total population of Kushwaha caste in Bihar is 4.2 percent. If seen in terms of assembly seats, out of 243 assembly seats in Bihar, Kushwaha caste has a major role in 45 seats, which include seats under Magadh-Shahabad, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Banka, Purnia, East and West Champaran districts. Whereas in the last assembly elections in Bihar, NDA had won only 18 seats out of 47 seats in Magadha, whereas in 2025, NDA has won 40 seats.
