Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has strongly targeted the Thackeray brand (Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) and Raj Thackeray’s MNS alliance) on Saturday (August 23, 2025). He said that the brand of Thackeray Bandhu in Maharashtra has been destroyed and it will not be seen in BMC elections due to coming with both. This statement of Athawale came after the defeat of Thackeray brothers in Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport elections.
Giving the example of Bala Saheb Thackeray, the Union Minister said, “Crowds used to gather in his meetings, but do not get votes. Something similar is with Raj Thackeray.” He claimed that the Thackeray brand will no longer be effective in BMC elections and only Mahayuti alliance will win.
The inclusion of Raj Thackeray in Mahayuti will cause harm- Athawale
Athawale expressed concern over Raj Thackeray’s meeting with BJP leaders. He believes that the inclusion of Raj Thackeray in Mahayuti will cause harm, especially Marathi and non-Marathi votes can be divided. He said that Mahayuti was damaged with the support of Raj Thackeray in the Lok Sabha elections, while his absence in the assembly elections benefited. He believes that the brand of Thackeray brothers in Mumbai is no longer going to run.
Sharad Pawar’s ECI Athawale reacted to allegations against
On the allegations of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on the Election Commission (ECI), Athawale said, “Sharad Pawar is an experienced leader who has been the Chief Minister and Union Minister. If he has evidence of vote theft, he should present before the Election Commission. Just making statements will not do anything outside. Rahul Gandhi needs to talk to the Election Commission. There is no need to snatch this right from anyone, however, there should be no fake voting at any cost. “
Politics should not be in sports- Athawale
On the FIR against Tejashwi Yadav, he said that it is not appropriate to comment on a personal level. Citing the Constitution, he said that there is a provision for action against such speeches. At the same time, on the India-Pakistan cricket match to be held in the Asia Cup, he said, “It is not right to link it to the Pahalgam terror attack. 26 people died in the Pahalgam terror attack and our heroic army gave the answer under Operation Sindoor. Our army taught Pakistan a lesson.” Athawale said, “There should be no politics in the game. I believe that the Indian cricket team will defeat Pakistan in the match and give a befitting reply.”
There should be pit-free roads in Mumbai- Athawale
Emphasizing the need for pit-free roads in Mumbai, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that pits on the roads during the rains, but it should be repaired. He mentioned an incident in which a person died. He said that fast work should be done to free the roads from pits.
