‘Udaipur files’ created a ruckus, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind accused the censor board of spoiling the atmosphere

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has made serious allegations on the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding the film ‘Udaipur Files’ based on Rajasthan Kanhaiya Lal murder case. The organization says that the censor board is trying to spoil the atmosphere of the country by approving such films.

Syed Maulana Cab Rashidi, legal advisor of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, said, ‘Delhi High Court has taken a big step on Thursday (10 PGNER, 2025) by interim restricting on the release of the film. This decision came on the demand of Maulana Arshad Madani, the national president of Jamiat, who claimed that this film can do hate and rioting in the society.

Central government should pronounce the decision in a week

Syed Maulana Kab Rashidi said that the court has given Jamiat two days to file a complaint with the central government under Section 6 of the Cinematograph Act. The central government will have to take a decision in a week on receiving such a complaint.

Jamiat says that the trailer of the film begins with the controversial statement of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, which damaged India’s image internationally in the year 2022. After this statement, many countries had questioned India’s democracy and the BJP expelled Nupur Sharma for six years.

An insult to Indian history and culture

Rashidi alleged, ‘The film shows Darul Uloom Deoband and its religious leaders as terrorists, which is an insult to Indian history and culture. At the same time, indecent comments have been made on the Prophet Saheb and the people associated with him, which is a violation of the Supreme Court’s 2022’s ‘Hate Speech’ verdict.

Rashidi said that films like ‘Kashmir Files’ and ‘Kerala Story’ were also controversial. Taking a dig at the censor board, he said that he should accept films for entertainment, not to spread hatred. Jamiat is confident that he will get full justice from the court. He described this decision of the court as a move to stop a major incident.
