Konda Babu was arrested from Mumbai and Aviansh Somal was arrested from Karnataka.

NIA What was revealed in the investigation?

NIA investigation revealed that both the accused were in contact with Pakistan’s intelligence agencies through social media platforms WhatsApp and Facebook. He used to share confidential and sensitive information related to the Indian Navy and Defense.

Investigation also revealed that both of them had given this information to Pakistani agents in exchange for money. This amount was sent to him through other accused named Abdul Rehman, Haroon Lakhdwala, Shaista Qaiser and Imran Giteli. These four had already been sentenced by the court this year.

Some 15 people have been arrested so far in the case

NIA took over this case from the Intelligence Department of Andhra Pradesh Police in December 2019. Till now the agency has arrested a total of 15 accused. A charge sheet was filed against 14 accused in June 2020 and a supplementary charge sheet was filed against one more accused in March 2021.
