A major road accident occurred late night in Alluri Sitaram Raju (ASR) district of Andhra Pradesh, when a private travels bus lost control on Chittoor-Maradumalli Ghat Road and fell into a deep valley. In the accident, 10 passengers died on the spot, while many others are seriously injured. There were a total of 37 passengers in the bus. This bus was going from Bhadrachalam in Telangana towards Annavaram.
Collector confirmed the accident, rescue work continues
ASR District Collector Dinesh Kumar confirmed the incident and said that so far 9-10 deaths have been reported. The administration launched a quick relief operation and took the injured to Bhadrachalam Area Hospital. The Collector said that the condition of many injured is serious, hence the number of dead may increase.
How did the accident happen?
According to initial information, the bus fell into a deep valley after the driver lost control at a bend on the Chittoor-Mardumalli Giri road. The accident was so severe that many passengers lost their lives on the spot.
Relief teams immediately took charge
After the accident late at night, local police, fire service and rescue teams immediately took charge. The injured were taken out of the valley with the help of stretchers and ropes and sent to the hospital. The administration is identifying the dead and informing the families. After the news of the accident, a wave of mourning has spread in Bhadrachalam and ASR districts.
CM Naidu expressed grief
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the bus accident and directed top officials to immediately reach the spot. He ordered all departments to coordinate and speed up relief and medical services and provide the best treatment to the injured. The officials informed the Chief Minister about the rescue operations so far, the number of passengers on board the bus and the condition of the injured admitted in the hospital.
