This state made a big announcement in the budget, free life insurance of Rs 5 lakh to 1.15 crore families

While presenting the budget of 2026-27 in the Assembly on Friday, the Telangana government assured crores of families of the state a big security. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced the ‘Indiramma Kutumb Life Insurance’ scheme, under which life insurance of ₹5 lakh will be provided to 1.15 crore families of the state.

The scheme will be applicable to all sections of the state including poor and middle class.

This scheme will be equally applicable to families of all sections of the poor, middle class and affluent in the state. In case of death of the head of the family or any member due to any reason, an insurance amount of ₹ 5 lakh will be given to the concerned family. The government has initially allocated ₹4,000 crore for the implementation of this scheme. This scheme will be officially implemented from Telangana State Foundation Day, 2 June 2026.

Welfare, housing and irrigation get utmost importance in the budget

In this budget of ₹3.24 lakh crore, welfare, housing and irrigation have been given utmost importance. ₹50,713 crore has been allocated for six election guarantees which include ₹18,000 crore for Kisan Bharosa, ₹5,500 crore for Indiramma Awas and ₹4,305 crore for Mahalaxmi Yojana.

What information did the Finance Minister give on the budget?

The Finance Minister said, ‘We have prepared this budget with honesty towards the people of Telangana. Budgets are numbers that revolve around the public. We are moving forward focusing on farmer welfare, women empowerment, employment for youth, quality education and health. Along with this, insurance cover of ₹ 1 crore was also announced for Singareni employees and all state government employees.
