Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivkumar has said that after investigation, the ongoing conspiracy to tarnish the image of the shrine will be exposed. On Friday (August 15, 2025), D.K Shivkumar, while talking about the bodies being buried collectively in the shrine, also indicated that strict action would be taken if these allegations come out.

It is alleged that in the last two decades, the bodies were collectively buried in the shrine, whose investigation has been handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). It was complained by a cleaning worker, whose identity has been kept confidential. The complainant says that between 1995 and 2014, he was forced to bury the bodies, including the bodies of women and minors. Some of these bodies also had sexual harassment marks.

According to the PTI report, under the investigation, the SIT has excavated at several places identified by the complainant on the banks of the Netravati river in the shrine and has recovered the remains at two places so far. D.K. Shivkumar told reporters here, ‘Things should be according to the law, not in favor or opposition. I believe. I have seen the devotion and power there closely. In my personal opinion, this conspiracy will be revealed through investigation in the coming days.

He said that he is confident that Home Minister Ji Parmeshwar will reveal the truth during the debate on the Dharmasthal issue in the assembly on Monday. Shivkumar said, ‘Home Minister will give information about this. The Chief Minister (Siddaramaiah) has also said that no one should make false allegations against any religious person or institution. This was said in the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party.

Shivkumar said that if the allegations are proved to be false, strict action will be taken according to the law. He said, ‘The law is the same for everyone. If someone is wrong, he will be punished, but no one should unnecessarily discredit others.

Prior to them, G Parmeshwar had said in the assembly that if the SIT finds the allegations false, then legal action can be taken against the complainant. During the discussion in the assembly, BJP MLAs had criticized the government for not taking action against the method of investigation and the discredit that is being targeted by the shrine and the temple.
