The formation of parliamentary committees, this responsibility entrusted to Tejashwi Surya; Shashi Tharoor got back again


Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tejashwi Surya was appointed as the chairman of the Pravar Parliamentary Committee on Wednesday (October 01, 2025) to investigate the Jan Vishwas Bill. During this, Speaker of Lok Sabha Om Birla has reorganized many such committees.

Apart from Tejashwi Surya, the Lok Sabha Speaker has appointed BJP leader Baijayant Panda as the chairman of the Select Committee constituted to consider the insolvency and refinement ordeal code Bill. Along with them, the presidents of almost all department-related parliamentary committees including Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram and senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor have been re-nominated in their respective posts.

The appointment of Lok Sabha member Tejashwi Surya from Bangalore South of Karnataka as Chairman of the ‘Jan Vishwas (Amendment in Provision) Bill’ is being seen as the chairman of this youth leader on behalf of the top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Lok Sabha Secretariat gave information

The Lok Sabha Secretariat said in this regard that BJP leaders Nishikant Dubey and Bhartrihari Mahtab will continue to be the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee related to Communication and Information Technology and Finance respectively. In addition, DMK leader Kanimoi will be the chairman of the Committee on Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

Shashi Tharoor will take care of the committee related to foreign affairs

As part of the restructuring of committees, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has re -appointed Lok Sabha MP of Thiruvananthapuram and senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor as the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee related to Foreign Affairs. With this, former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi has been re -appointed to the post of Chairman of Agriculture Committee.

To consider three bills Jpc Formation of the remaining

Amidst all this, the Joint Committee (JPC) of Parliament (JPC) is yet to be formed to consider three Bills of the Union Home Ministry, including the 130th Amendment Bill of the Constitution.
