Telangana: Flood crisis after heavy rains in Hanumkonda, water released from Vaddepalli pond caused devastation


Even though the rains have stopped in Hanumkonda city of Telangana, the flood crisis is not showing any sign of abating. The situation in the city still remains critical, where water has disrupted life. The situation has worsened after the release of soil and water from Vaddepalli pond, due to which the rain water has overflowed into the drain of Nayeem Nagar and is causing havoc in the surrounding areas.

The water released from Vaddepalli pond has now become a headache for the city. This water is flowing through the Nayeem Nagar drain, which is now filled far beyond its capacity. Due to this, the drain water has spread to the surrounding areas and has reached people’s homes.

Many cities of Telangana submerged

Despite the rains having stopped, this unexpected flow of water has increased the problems of the people. Many major areas of the city have been completely submerged. Many areas including Gopalpur, TV Tower, Sammayya Nagar, Amravati Colony, Nayeem Nagar, Pochamma Kunta, Hanuman Nagar, Pegdapalli Dabbalu, Gundla Singaram and Indiramma Colony are filled with water.

The residents here are not able to come out of their homes and their lives have been affected due to water logging. Hanumkonda’s 100 feet road, which is a major road of the city, has now taken the form of a river, where water is flowing with strong current.

People’s movement stopped, life affected

This scene shows the magnitude of the flood and how out of control the situation is. The movement of people has come to a complete standstill and normal life has been badly affected. Hanamkonda bus stand was submerged in water after heavy rains.
