A bag containing about 17 pieces of gold jewelery kept by a family was accidentally left in Amma restaurant located in Salavadi village near Tindivanam. But the prompt action of the police in time prevented major damage.
The couple left for Chennai after having breakfast.
Prashant and his wife Nalini, residents of Tambaram area of Chennai, were returning with their child after attending a relative’s wedding in Tiruvannamalai. Nalini had taken off about 17 pieces of gold jewelery that she had worn during the wedding and kept them in a separate bag. While returning home in the morning, the family had breakfast at Amma restaurant in Salavadi and then left for Chennai.
The couple left their bags on the chair and forgot them.
After some time, Nalini suddenly noticed that the bag was not present in the car. He immediately remembered that he had kept the bag on the chair in the restaurant while having breakfast. In panic, he immediately called his relative and Special Inspector Shivkumar posted in Senji and told him the whole matter.
Without any delay, Shivakumar contacted Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) Manikvasagam posted on highway patrol and informed about the loss of the bag. Manikvasagam immediately reached Amma Restaurant, where he saw that the same bag was still kept on the chair untouched. He picked up the bag safely and after informing the restaurant owner about it, deposited the bag with Inspector Tharaneshwari of Roshnai Police Station.
The couple expressed gratitude to the police
After some time, Prashant and Nalini couple reached the police station. The police opened the bag in front of them and examined the jewellery. When all the jewelery was found safe, the bag was handed over to them. After finding their valuables safe, the couple expressed their deep gratitude to the police team and praised their honesty.
