Tamil Nadu News: A tragic incident took place in Thirukalmedu area of Kanchipuram Municipal Corporation, Tamil Nadu on Tuesday afternoon. Kutti alias Laxmiman (56), a resident here, who works as a contract cleaner of toilets in Rajaji Market, often used to come home drunk and used to quarrel in the family. His wife Sandhavali (52) and 75-year-old mother-in-law Tilakavati were always troubled by his drinking and abusive language.
Angry drunkard started a fight
Even on the day of the incident, Lakshmiman reached home under the influence of alcohol. It was afternoon and only his wife and mother-in-law were present in the house. Drunken Lakshmiman asked his wife for money to drink alcohol. On not paying the money, he became furious and started fighting as usual. The matter escalated so much that a scuffle broke out between the husband and wife.
Man attacked mother-in-law with a hammer
In the midst of the fight, Lakshmiman got angry and picked up the hammer kept in the house and started attacking his wife Sandhavali. After several consecutive blows, Sandhavali fell there and got seriously injured. When 75-year-old mother-in-law Tilakavati came forward to save her daughter-in-law, Lakshmiman also attacked her with a hammer. The woman fell unconscious on the spot due to deep injuries on her head and body.
Hearing the screams of both, the neighbors ran to the house. Seeing them, Lakshmiman immediately ran away from the house. Neighbors immediately informed the police and ambulance. Both the injured women were taken to Kanchipuram Government Hospital in a blood-soaked condition. The woman Tilakavati admitted there in critical condition died during treatment. Wife Sandhawali is still admitted in the hospital and her condition is said to be critical.

Taluk police have registered a case of murder and attempt to murder in connection with the death of the woman and the fatal attack on the wife.
