Tamil Nadu News: In two separate cases in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, social media friendship posed a major threat to the lives of two minor girls. In one case, the girl was called to her home on the pretext of love and sexually assaulted, while in the other case, the woman was kidnapped after the affair broke.
First case – Trusting Instagram was costly
Subramani (27), who lives in Virukambakkam area of Chennai, is a sound engineer. He befriended a 13 year old minor girl on Instagram. As the conversation progressed, he pretended to love the girl and kept demanding to meet her through chat several times. Finally, one day Subramani called the girl to his home. As soon as the girl reached his house, he sexually assaulted her.
At the same time, a neighbor living nearby became suspicious after seeing the condition of the girl. He immediately informed the girl’s parents. The parents reached the spot and with the help of the police brought the girl out safely. Virukambakkam Women Police, after investigation, arrested the accused Subramani under the POCSO Act and sent him to jail.
Second case – Revenge for rejection in love, kidnapping of college student
A 48-year-old father living in Thirumangalam area of Chennai lodged a complaint that his college-going daughter has been kidnapped. He suspected that Shyam Sundar, who lives nearby, was involved in this incident. As soon as the complaint was received, the police formed a special team and examined the CCTV footage of the area. The footage showed that the woman was taken away in a car. This information was immediately sent to the police control room.
Search for woman continues
After this, the police increased surveillance at nearby toll plazas. The team was successful at Vikramvandi toll plaza near Dindivanam and the suspicious car was stopped. Both the woman and Shyam Sundar were present in the car. During interrogation, it was revealed that both of them were in an affair earlier, but they broke up a few months ago. The woman stopped talking to him, due to which angry Shyam Sundar forced her into a car and kidnapped her. Nolambur police has arrested Shyam Sundar and sent him to jail. The search for the person and a woman who provided the car in this incident is still going on.
