Concern increased due to husband’s disappearance
Arumugam, a resident of Erangattu Kottai area of Dharmapuri district, lived with his wife Jyoti, two daughters and two sons. Arumugam used to work in the local medical shop. On January 7, he left for work as usual, but did not return home till night. Alarmed wife Jyoti lodged a complaint about her husband’s disappearance at Dharmapuri Town Police Station on January 9.
On January 11, the police, who were searching for Arumugam, found the body of a man in Thutharaiyan Lake near Mathiganapalayam. Dharmapuri Town police team reached the spot and identified the body as that of Arumugam. The post mortem report revealed that Arumugam had several deep wounds on his head. From this it became clear that he was murdered. After this, the police changed the missing case to murder and intensified the investigation.
Suspicion increased on wife and son-in-law
The police started interrogating several people including Arumugam’s wife Jyoti and son-in-law Seetharaman. During interrogation it came to light that Jyoti and Sitharaman had an affair for a long time. Sitharaman was married and lived with his wife and two daughters. When his wife found out about this affair, they had a fight and she went to her parents’ house.
The surprising thing is that Jyoti was not ready to end this affair. Under the pressure of Sitharaman, he married his own elder daughter to her son-in-law 6 months ago. Despite this, the relationship between Jyoti and Sitharaman continued. When Arumugam came to know the truth about his wife’s affairs, he expressed his displeasure with Jyoti. From here the conspiracy for his death started.
Husband brutally murdered under conspiracy
On January 7, Arumugam, who was leaving for work, was kidnapped by Sitharaman and her four associates. The accused took him to a deserted place and seriously injured him by beating him with stones.
When he became unconscious, his body was picked up and thrown into Thutharaiyan Lake, to make it look like an accident. After this, 6 people including Jyoti, Seetha Raman, Saravanan, Jaishankar, Praveenkumar and Murugan were arrested and put in jail.
