Problems have once again increased in the POCSO case of Jyotish Peeth’s Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his disciple Mukundanand Giri. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the anticipatory bail granted to Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his associate Mukundanand in the POCSO Act case. In the petition filed by Ashutosh Maharaj, the complainant in the case, it has been said that the High Court should not have given this order in such a serious case.
It has been said in the petition that there is serious danger to the complainant and the victims due to Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati being outside. The High Court ignored this. Not only this, the way the High Court interpreted the facts while granting anticipatory bail will affect the entire case.
Knocked the door of Allahabad HC to avoid arrest
In fact, to avoid arrest in this serious case of sexual harassment, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his disciple Mukundanand Giri had approached the Allahabad High Court. His lawyer had filed a petition in the court for anticipatory bail. The single bench of Justice Jitendra Kumar in the High Court had reserved its decision last month after the completion of the hearing of the case on February 27, 2026.
After this, the single bench of Allahabad High Court gave its verdict in this POCSO case on Wednesday (March 25, 2026) and approved the bail petition of Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his disciple Mukundanand Giri.
Victims reiterated sexual harassment in statement
After conducting medical examination of both the alleged victim disciples, the police recorded their written and video statements. In the statement, both of them had reiterated the issue of sexual harassment. For this, the police registered an FIR in the case and intensified their investigation. Meanwhile, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati had accused Ashutosh Maharaj, who lodged the FIR in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and the administration of collusion.
