US Iran War: An important meeting is going to be held in Islamabad on Friday amid efforts for peace regarding the Iran War. The participation of US Vice President JD Vance, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in this meeting has raised hopes for permanent peace in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Russia has adopted a blunt stance regarding the ongoing attacks on Lebanon by Israel. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart that Lebanon should also be included in any ceasefire agreement, as it is necessary for regional stability.

In a separate statement, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova strongly condemned Israel’s attacks in Lebanon. He said that such aggressive steps can derail the progress being made towards peace talks. This statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry clearly indicates that Russia is concerned about the increasing tension in the region and wants all parties to exercise restraint, so that progress can be made towards a solution through diplomatic efforts.
On the other hand, before the proposed talks in Islamabad, US President Donald Trump spoke to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and advised to reduce Israeli attacks in Lebanon, so that the ceasefire with Iran can be taken forward.
Expectations from the meeting in Islamabad
It is noteworthy that despite the announcement of ceasefire between Washington, DC and Tehran on Wednesday, the situation could not be controlled. An Iranian refinery plant was attacked, after which Iran also retaliated and targeted Kuwait and Bahrain. At the same time, Israel also took major military action and fired more than 100 missiles in a very short time, which clearly shows that despite the ceasefire, the conflict does not seem to be stopping.
On one hand, efforts for peace are intensifying at the diplomatic level, while on the other hand, ongoing attacks at the ground level are challenging this process, due to which this meeting is being considered very important.
