Telangana unit president of Bharatiya Janata Party N. Ramachandra Rao on Thursday (November 6, 2025) criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his comment that ‘Congress means Muslims and Muslims means Congress.’
He said that the oldest party of the country (Congress) is involved in vote bank politics. The BJP leader told PTI, ‘Most communal riots took place during the Congress rule. So how can she say that Congress means Muslims? However, this is communal and extremely objectionable. I think the Chief Minister is desperate because he is going to lose the by-election (Jubilee Hills by-election), hence, he only wants Muslim votes, he is not thinking about Hindu votes.
Earlier, Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy had recently opposed the inclusion of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin in the Council of Ministers in Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticized Kishan Reddy at an election rally on Thursday.
Revanth Reddy said, ‘The Congress government has given many opportunities to the minorities. Only Congress has given big posts to minorities. Congress means Muslims and Muslims means Congress. N. Earlier in the day, Ramachandra Rao told PTI-Video that Reddy was engaged in Muslim appeasement to get Muslim votes in the by-election to be held on November 11 in Jubilee Hills assembly constituency here.
State BJP President said that Revanth Reddy has become Revanth Uddin by wearing a cap during the election campaign for the votes of 20 percent Muslims. He said, ‘It is clear that his (Reddy) statements are part of vote bank politics. He says that Muslims get respect because of Congress. Congress did not ensure respect for Muslims. In fact, Congress is hurting the honor of Muslims by using them as vote bank. The real question is whether Congress is providing education, health facilities, employment and housing to Muslims or not.
N. Ramachandra Rao alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was also adopting the same policies and both the parties were ignoring 80 per cent Hindus for 20 per cent Muslim votes. This by-election is being held after the death of BRS MLA M. Gopinath due to heart attack in June.
BJP has fielded Deepak Reddy, while Gopinath’s wife Sunita is the BRS candidate. Ruling Congress candidate Naveen Yadav has the support of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM.
