Rahul Gandhi told Oomon Chandy, his ‘Guru’, said- ‘India will not forget him in the journey journey’

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to the late Kerala Chief Minister late Oomon Chandy at ‘Oomn Chandy Smriti Sangamam’ held on Friday (July 18, 2025) in Kottayam, Kerala. On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi described Oomon Chandy as his guru and said that his politics was based on understanding the feelings of others and being sensitive to him.

He said that in India, Guru means not only a teacher, but is the one who shows direction from his actions. In many ways, Oom Chandy ji was my guru and the gurus of many people of Kerala were also gurus. He expressed hope that many youths of Kerala will run at the footsteps of Chandy and will behave according to the tradition of Kerala politics.

India gave together during joint journey

The Congress leader said in his address that in the years after joining politics since 2004, he realized that people give more importance to a politician’s ability to feel the feelings of others more than the ability to speak or think.

Rahul Gandhi said that in his 21 years of political life, he found Oom Chandy the master of emotion politics. He remembered how Chandi did not stop walking despite the advice of doctors during the journey. I really saw him dedicated to the people of Kerala.

RSS and CPI indifferent to people’s feelings

The Congress leader said that he fights with RSS and CPI (M) at an ideological level, but his biggest complaint is that both these organizations are indifferent to the sentiments of the people. During this time many senior leaders including Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal were present.
