Punjab Police strict on insulting the dignity of CJI, 15 FIRs registered, YouTuber Ajit Bharti also included


Taking strict action against illegal and objectionable social media content that tarnishes the reputation of the Chief Justice of India, Punjab Police on Thursday (October 09, 2025) has registered around 15 FIRs based on complaints received against more than 100 social media handles in different districts of the state. These include the name of YouTuber Ajit Bharti, against whom an FIR has been registered.

Giving information in this regard, Punjab Police spokesperson said that the material related to attacks on high constitutional authorities, caste-based insults and inflammatory material on social media and direct attempt to disturb peace and public order by inappropriately portraying caste and communal sentiments has been seized and FIR has been registered as per law.

Contains casteism and hate speech

He said that many posts and videos contain casteist and hateful content, the purpose of which is to create social disunity, disturb public order and hurt the dignity of judicial institutions. This social media content contains illegal and objectionable things that tarnish the credibility of the Chief Justice of India.

The spokesperson further said that these social media posts include statements intended to incite violence, target a constitutional post, deliberately intimidate and humiliate a member of a Scheduled Caste, attempt to encourage enmity, hatred and discriminatory thinking against a member of a Scheduled Caste, create enmity between groups on the basis of caste and create defamatory and public disturbance statements.

FIR registered under these sections

The spokesperson said that on the basis of information received related to serious crimes, FIR has been registered in various police stations under sections 3(1)(R), 3(1)(S) and 3(1)(U) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and sections 196, 352, 353(1), 353(2) and 61 of the Indian Justice Code. He said that further investigation of these FIRs is being conducted as per the law.
