Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long celebrations to commemorate 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi tomorrow on Friday (November 7, 2025). On this occasion he will also release a commemorative postage stamp and coin.
The event marks the formal beginning of a year-long nationwide celebration from Friday (November 7, 2025) to November 7, 2026. This classic inspired India’s independence movement and maintained national pride and unity.
Prime Minister’s Office issued official statement
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that PM Modi will inaugurate the year-long celebration of the national song Vande Mataram at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi at around 9.30 am on Friday (November 7).
PM Modi said in a post on social media platform X, ‘We are going to celebrate 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram song. This is such an encouraging call, which has imbued many generations of the country with the spirit of patriotism.
The statement said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also release a commemorative postage stamp and coin on this occasion. Along with the main event, there will be mass singing of the full version of ‘Vande Mataram’ at around 9:50 am in public places with the participation of citizens from all sections of the society, it said.

This year, 150 years of the composition of Vande Mataram are being completed. Bankim Chandra Chatterjee composed the national song Vande Mataram on the occasion of Akshaya Navami on November 7, 1875. Vande Mataram was first published in the literary magazine Bangadarshan as a part of Chatterjee’s novel Anandamath.
