On Wednesday (December 3, 2025), on the third day of the winter session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with BJP MPs from West Bengal. During this, PM Modi stressed on ensuring the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the assembly elections to be held next year in West Bengal.
According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told all the BJP MPs of West Bengal, “We have to work hard for the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal and ensure that we win the elections in Bengal.” At the same time, regarding the Bengal government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said that you people have progressed a lot. While addressing the BJP MPs, PM Modi said that all of you should be in constant touch with the beneficiaries of the central government schemes. He directed that all the public welfare works and schemes of the Central Government should be made available to the people of West Bengal through social media platforms.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is currently conducting Special Intensive Review (SIR) in 12 states and union territories of the country, which also includes West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is taking out a protest march against the SIR being carried out in the state. Apart from this, during the winter session of Parliament, all other opposition parties led by the Congress Party are opposing the SIR from the Parliament complex to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and demanding discussion on it.
