Since the Indo-Pak struggle, Pakistan’s relations with America seem to be getting stronger. Shahbaz Sharif has praised Donald Trump on several occasions. Pakistan is now going to get reward for Pakistan, because America is soon going to give AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Rage Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) to Pakistan.
According to the official press release issued by the US War Department, Pakistan’s name is included in the list of foreign military sales recipients in this weapon deal.
AMRAAM missile strength
The AIM-120 amraam is an air-to-air missile, capable of targeting enemy aircraft from long distance. This missile F-16 is set on Falcon Fighter Jets. Pakistan’s Air Force used it during aerial clashes with India after the 2019 Balakot AIRIRRARI. Right now the Pakistani Air Force has its C5 version, while the new deal is for the production of C8 and D3 versions, which are more range and accuracy.
The AIM-12D-3 missiles are the latest and high tech version of the Amraam Family. These missiles are designed to attack the enemy’s fighter jets and upcoming missiles (BVR) attack.
Pakistan was trying to buy Amraam for a long time
Defense analysts say the missile will further increase the operational boundary and accuracy of Pakistan’s current F-16 fleet. With this, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will be able to answer air threats better. Pakistan was trying to buy the new generation Amraam instead of the old AIM-12C-5 variants for a long time.
The delivery of the old AIM was found by Pakistan in 2010 with F-16 block 52 aircraft. Since modernization of its aerial fleet of India and operation vermilion, there was an increased discomfort for these new missiles in Pakistan.
