The opposition is completely attacking the controversy over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar removing the niqab from the face of a Muslim woman. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Waris Pathan on Tuesday (December 16, 2025) called it a shameful act and demanded an apology from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
AIMIM leader Waris Pathan said, ‘Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has done a very shameful act. Who gave Nitish Kumar the right to pull the hijab in front of everyone from the face of a Muslim female doctor who had gone to get the appointment letter? Niqab is the pride of a Muslim woman. So that no one else could see her face, she had worn hijab and Nitish Kumar removed the hijab from her face in front of everyone. Who gave Nitish Kumar the authority to do this?
This action is an example of a poor mentality – Waris Pathan
Waris Pathan said, ‘Will CM Nitish Kumar do such a thing by giving Rs 10,000 to women? BJP people talk about save girl child, educate girl child and respect women. Is this women’s respect in their eyes? We know that he hates hijab, but he expressed this hatred in public. Everyone saw it. They have no right to remove the hijab from the face of a Muslim woman in this manner. During this time the people standing behind were laughing.
He said, ‘Nitish Kumar should apologize to all Muslim women for this action. If any Muslim had pulled the veil of our Hindu sister in this manner, there would have been an uproar by now. One cannot remain silent on such things. This is not respect for women, but an insult. If he has even a little shame then he should apologize for this act in front of the public. If Nitish Kumar’s mental balance is not good then he should rest at home. He is the Chief Minister of a state, he should not act like this. This action is an example of a poor mentality.
SP MP demands Chief Minister to resign
Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Pushpendra Saroj also condemned it. He said, ‘Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister of a very big state of the country and has been the CM for many years. Even before the elections and even now there are talks that maybe his health is not good. We saw that many such incidents happened even before the elections. At the same time, the recent incident is directly playing with someone’s religion. Nitish Kumar should apologize for removing the woman’s hijab in front of everyone and resign from the post of Chief Minister.
