Responding to the opposition’s questions in Parliament regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh attacked the opposition leaders on Monday (July 28, 2025). He lashed out at the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, saying, “The Leader of Opposition always asked how many aircraft Pakistan killed, not even once asked how many aircraft we had killed.”
Rajnath Singh said that the opposition must ask questions, but the question should be purposeful and in national interest. He said, ‘The question of the opposition should be whether India destroyed terrorist bases? So his answer is yes. Operation vermilion was successful? So the answer is also, yes.
Opposition diverting attention from big issues- Rajnath
He advised the opposition and said, ‘When our goals are big, we should not pay attention to small issues. Focusing on small issues diverts attention from big issues. Targeting the opposition, Rajnath Singh said that when the BJP was in opposition, its behavior in Parliament has been to ask the government meaningful questions, this attitude should have also been of the opposition. He said, ‘We have also spent a long time in opposition, but then we asked the governments meaningful questions.’
Giving the example of the Indo-China war of 1962, the Defense Minister said, ‘We then asked how another country was occupied on our earth? How did our soldiers know so much? We did not worry about weapons or machines, but worried about the soldiers.
Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee mentioned
Referring to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said, “When we taught Pakistan a lesson, Atal ji appreciated not only the government but the entire leadership in the House, including the opposition.”
Taking a sarcasm on the arguments of the opposition, Rajnath Singh said, ‘The result matters in any examination. We should not worry about whether the student’s pencil was broken during the examination or not. He reiterated that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was a successful and decisive campaign and the opposition should not find negativity in it.
