Britain-based Indian-origin writer, teacher and famous academic Nitasha Kaul has challenged the Central Government’s decision in the Delhi High Court, in which she was blacklisted from coming to India and her Overseas Citizen of India card was also cancelled. His petition will be heard in the court of Justice Sachin Dutta on November 25.
Nitasha Kaul is Professor of International Relations at the University of Westminster, London. Kaul, who belongs to a Kashmiri Pandit family, studied Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and then did a joint PhD in Economics and Philosophy from Britain. She has been writing and speaking on issues related to Kashmir, nationalism and Hindutva for a long time. After the removal of Article 370 in 2019, she also testified on human rights in Kashmir in front of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Parliament, after which she became often in the news.
Nitasha Kaul came to India in the year 2024
In February 2024, Nitasha Kaul had come to Bengaluru to attend a conference. The event was on the theme of Constitution and National Unity and was being organized by the Government of Karnataka. He had a valid British passport and OCI card, yet he was stopped at the airport. After being kept in custody for about 24 hours, he was sent back. After this, in May 2025, the government canceled his OCI status. In the letter sent by the government, it was said that Kaul’s writings and his speeches are anti-India and they target the sovereignty of the country.
Nitasha Kaul challenged the government’s decision
In the petition filed in the Delhi High Court, Nitasha Kaul has argued in the court that canceling her OCI without any solid basis and stopping her from coming to India is a violation of her rights. Delhi High Court will hear the case on November 25.
