The Mumbai zonal unit of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has safely disposed of 1835 kg of Mephedrone and 341 kg of other banned chemical substances seized from various places in Maharashtra and Delhi. A total of 16 accused were arrested in this big drug case. The detailed investigation uncovered several interstate and international drug networks, which also included the arrest of a foreign national. With this action, the back of a large and interconnected international drug syndicate was broken.
Formation of high level drug disposal committee
As per the guidelines of the Supreme Court, a high-level Drug Disposal Committee was constituted, which included the Deputy Director General (SWR) of NCB, Additional Director of NCB Mumbai Zone and Additional Commissioner of Pune Police. After reviewing the case, it was selected for pre-trial disposal. After following all the legal procedures, the seized drugs and other chemicals were destroyed through incineration on 14 November 2025 in the presence of the supervisory team at MEPL, Ranjangaon, Pune, Maharashtra.
Big success to NCB’s mission
The seizure of such a huge quantity of drugs and its timely disposal reinforces the continuous efforts of NCB to dismantle organized drug syndicates and crack down on drug smugglers. The aim of the Bureau is to have a drug-free India by 2047. To achieve this, major operations are being carried out continuously across the country.
Action continues on interstate and international networks
NCB is continuously taking strict action against such drug networks, which spread the network of smuggling by crossing the borders of states and countries. The agency is rapidly moving towards a drug-free society by breaking the drug trafficking, economic flow and financial links.
