Mumbai Airport: National record broken! Mumbai airport creates history with 1,036 flights in a day

Amid rising festival and holiday travel demand across the country, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) created a major operational record on 21 November 2025. On this day, the airport recorded a total of 1,036 air traffic movements (ATMs) in 24 hours, surpassing the previous record of 1,032 ATMs set on November 11, 2023.

A total of 1,70,488 passengers traveled through CSMIA on the same day. This included 1,21,527 domestic and 48,961 international passengers. This figure is almost equal to the highest record of 1,70,516 passengers recorded on January 11, 2025. 86,443 passengers arrived and 84,045 passengers departed at the airport.

Important instructions regarding flights

The 1,036 ATMs (air traffic movements) recorded on November 21 included 755 domestic and 281 international flights. Around 520 arrival and 516 departure flights were handled smoothly during the operations. Among domestic routes, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata recorded the highest passenger traffic, while international passengers traveled the most on routes to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London Heathrow, Doha and Jeddah.

Work to strengthen technical facilities

CSMIA is continuously strengthening digital and technological features to provide a faster and safer experience to passengers. Services like increased Self Baggage Drop (SBD) units, self check-in kiosks, DigiYatra and FTI-TTP at the airport have expedited the passenger process during peak hours. The advanced system of Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) has further strengthened real-time monitoring and coordination of different partner agencies. With this achievement CSMIA has proved that it has the capacity to effectively handle the increasing passenger and flight operations. With a continued focus on safety, punctuality and passenger convenience, the airport is setting new standards for the future.
