The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday (November 6, 2025) filed a charge sheet against a new accused in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) terrorist conspiracy case registered in Madhya Pradesh in 2023. Along with this, new charges have also been added against five already accused people.
NIA has filed this first supplementary charge sheet in the special court of NIA, Bhopal. So far, chargesheet has been filed against a total of 18 accused in this case. Earlier, on November 4, 2023, the first charge sheet was filed against 17 accused.
What was revealed in the new charge sheet?
In the new document, NIA has included the names of Mohsin Khan alias Dawood, Mohammad Alam, Misbah-ul-Hassan, Yasir Khan, Syed Danish Ali and Mohammad Shahrukh. According to the investigating agency, these people had carried out the incident of setting fire to the car of a police officer on the instructions of their foreign handler.
In the charge sheet, new charges have been leveled against Mohsin Khan under several sections of UAPA and IPC. At the same time, some new sections have also been added on the remaining five accused, who were included in the earlier charge sheet. This case was registered by Bhopal ATS in May 2023. Investigation revealed that a terrorist organization named Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) was secretly recruiting Muslim youth. So that by overthrowing the democratic government of India, Sharia based caliphate can be established in the country.
What came to light in NIA investigation
NIA investigation also revealed that this organization used to hold secret meetings in the name of religious gatherings. In which the youth were taught anti-government thinking and radical ideology. Besides, they were also given weapon handling and combat training, so that violent attacks could be carried out in future.
The agency is still investigating this case further. NIA says that it is now trying to reach the bigger conspiracy of HuT organization, its absconding members, supporters and foreign handlers.
