MoU signed between Government of India and Microsoft; Strong step in AI sector, employment will get a boost

The Ministry of Labor and Employment has signed the MoU in the presence of Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. This MoU is being considered as a strong step towards increasing job opportunities, AI skilling and workforce. On the MoU, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said, this partnership reflects India’s desire to take advantage of its good demographic dividend and create a competitive, digitally skilled, future-ready workforce across the world.

AI initiatives will get a boost
AI driven skilling initiatives will be promoted through the MoU. This will provide future ready capabilities to millions of youth in AI, cloud technology, cyber security and productivity tools. These efforts will help in preparing the workforce as per the global standards and needs of the emerging industry.

The Cabinet Minister has said that he emphasized that Microsoft’s participation will accelerate job access, improve skilling, and increase India’s leadership in global labor mobility.

Dr. Mandaviya further said, “India has achieved a historic milestone in social protection. Coverage has increased from 19% in 2015 to an impressive 64.3% by 2025. This is benefiting more than 94 crore citizens. By incorporating AI in platforms like e-Shram and National Career Service, we are strengthening social security and providing social protection to 100 crore citizens by March 2026. “We are getting closer to our goal of providing protection.”

Satya Nadella praised India
Microsoft CEO praised India’s social security coverage. He has also promised to help India in creating employment digital public infrastructure in the next phase. Microsoft will bring more than 15,000 employers and partners from its global network to the ministry’s NCS platform. Also, this MoU has been signed between the government and Microsoft to increase access to formal job opportunities and strengthen the international mobility of Indian professionals and youth.
