More than 41 crore Ayushman cards made under Ayushman Bharat Scheme in the country, government gave information in Lok Sabha

In the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Health Pratap Rao Jadhav has informed that more than 41 crore Ayushman cards have been made so far under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the country. The fellow Union Minister of State for Health also informed that in January 2022, the number of beneficiaries was increased from 10.74 crore families to 12 crore families, so that 40% of the country’s population could benefit.

In March 2024, the plan also included ASHA workers (ASHA), Anganwadi workers (AWW), Anganwadi assistants (AWH) and their families. Recently, the scope of the scheme has also been increased to 6 crore senior citizens aged 70 years and above, who will get benefits through the Vandana card, irrespective of their financial condition.

ASHA workers in the Ayushman card created 10.45 lakhs, Anganwadi workers 15.01 lakh, Anganwadi Sahayika 15.05 Lakh. 31,466 hospital schemes have been included in the country so far, out of which 14,194 are private hospitals. Under the scheme, more than 9.84 crore people have been treated so far, the total cost has been more than Rs 1.40 lakh crore.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme
Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). The Government of India is a National Health Protection Scheme. It was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 September 2018. The objective of this scheme is to provide free and quality health services to the economically weaker sections, so that no person is deprived of treatment only in the absence of money.
